The Iowa Teen Award gives students an opportunity to choose the book to receive the award and to suggest books for the yearly reading list. Check out this link for more information on the Iowa Teen Award and the Iowa Association of School Librarians. The list is used as the basis of our Battle of the Books.

The Battle
- School Level – Schools determine their best team. Contact your school’s librarian or Engligh teacher for more information on School Level Battles.
- District Level – The winning team from each participating school in the district will battle each other in the final Eastern Iowa Regional Battle of the Books.

Questions are written Each book is reviewed and questions are written by public librarians from sponsoring libraries. All questions are answered with the title of a book and the author.
The Students
Middle school battle is open to all students in grades 6-8. in Eastern Iowa. Whether your 6th grade class will compete at the Middle or Elementary School level is determined at the district level. Please contact your school librarian or English teacher for more information.
Homeschool teams are welcome to participate! Please reach out to your local public librarian for more information on how to compete.
